A sad disappointment with a happy ending

Name: Coyote Ugly

Address: 153 First Ave between 9th and 10th Street

Website: http://www.coyoteuglysaloon.com/newyork/

Well its sad to say I can not do a why we love it section this time. I can only declare that i moderately enjoyed the place, and this is only because of the people I was with and not the place itself. Coyote Ugly is nothing special. It is a tiny place with one TV and bathrooms I would only recommend using if your not opposed to catching various diseases I'm sure were colonizing there. The bartenders were very nice and alot of fun, mostly because they were trashed. However, they were not very attractive. I was expecting much hotter girls given its reputation and the fact it was a Saturday night. They do dance on the bar and have choreographed dances to certain songs. The only entertainment this bar provides is the fact that any girl in there is allowed to dance on the bar and in exchange she gets a free shot. However, after the fourth drunken, rythemless, bachelorette party got up on bar this no longer was entertaining and crossed over to me being embarrassed for them.
I think now the question is would i recommend to visit this bar... I feel that everything should be tried once. People like different things and someone might love this spot. But i would strongly recommend having a backup plan.

And now for the happy ending!

After a few hours of drinking, hunger kicked in and my friend brought me to the most delicious french fry place I have ever encountered!

Name:
Pommes Frites

Address: 123 Second Ave between St Marks and 7th Street

Why we love it! Big Hot Crispy French Fries with tons of dipping sauces and very cheap prices. I don't need to say anything else. They are a must try!

My Two Loves

Name: Doghouse Saloon NYC

Address: 152 Orchard Street

Website: www.doghousesaloonnyc.com

Why we love it: I have very few loves in life. One is alcohol, one is video games, and the last is Chipotle (but that has nothing to do with this post). The first two however are the reasons why i wish i could legally marry this place. I went to the Doghouse about two weeks after it had opened on a Wednesday night with a few friends, the bar was pretty empty, only about 20 people, but it ended up being one of the most fun nights i had had in a while. When I arrived, the first thing I noticed was the rockband set set-up in front of a huge projection screen and street fighter 4 set-up on another television. From this alone I knew it was going to be a great night. After a few drinks (Specials available everyday) we decided it was rockband time. After a few more drinks I broke out in a drunken rendition which could vaguely be recognized as Bon Jovi's Dead or Alive. I figured after this i had to ban myself from any further public humiliation and retreated back to the bar to watch baseball on their numerous flat screens around the room. I argued with the bartender over the Yankees and Mets, and played their famous "Wheel of Shots", which is a huge spinning wheel with prizes ranging from water to jello shots to bombs and well shots. The wheel also contains a bartenders choice, which after the bartender found out my hatred for whiskey, poured me a shot of Jack Daniels. It's $5 per spin and worth playing at least once, and don't worry the bartenders will rarely actually give you a shot of water. This is all only on the first floor of the bar. On the second level, their game room, a pool table, skee-ball and buck hunt can be found along with some booths to lounge at. Various beer pong tables are also scattered around on both levels of the bar. All in all this bar has the total package, geared toward college students something can be found here for everyone.

What we recommend: Whatever is the special that night. Ranges from .25 cent Bud Light Drafts on Sundays to $4 Coronas on Thursdays.
Spin on the "Wheel of Shots"- $5
Signature Dirrrty Dog Shot- $3

Fun Events: *I'm sad to announce that video game Wednesdays are no more however I still highly recommend checking out the Doghouse Saloon*
Wednesday Trivia - Prizes include lots of free drinks and the grand prize is $50 off your bar tab
Live band karaoke Thursdays- Sing your favorite songs with a live band backing you up.
